Pearl Abyss is continuing to patch Crimson Desert even as the game’s first major expansion moves closer. Patch 2.02.00 is focused on bug fixes and stability work rather than new systems, arriving just weeks before Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown expands the open-world action game in October.

Among the most important fixes, the update addresses an issue that could prevent Thornbriar Fortress from being liberated and another that could make items disappear from the Trade Goods Storage when certain save files were loaded. Pearl Abyss also fixed a progression blocker in “The Words of Alustin,” where a missing letter could stop the quest from advancing.

Other gameplay fixes target smaller but still disruptive problems. Shining a lantern on an NPC should now correctly reveal their belongings, while housing at Howling Hill Camp can become available even if the player’s inventory is full when the banner is raised. The patch also fixes a control issue that prevented Descending Force Palm from chaining after Aerial Force Palm.

On PC, Patch 2.02.00 addresses a crash that could occur when starting a new game with NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation enabled. Pearl Abyss also made further improvements to the visible noise that can appear on armor in indoor environments. The studio has not presented that visual issue as completely eliminated, but the new patch continues the work that has followed Crimson Desert since launch.

The update cadence comes shortly after Crimson Desert Enhanced, released as Patch 2.00.00 on August 25. That free update expanded the story with new cutscenes and narrative moments, added five new voice languages, introduced additional skills and reworked parts of the skill-learning system. Pearl Abyss followed it with hotfixes and Patch 2.01.00 before this latest round of fixes.

The next major step is Charting the Unknown. Pearl Abyss says the DLC begins a new journey across Pywel’s lands and seas, adding new islands, maritime exploration and underwater content while continuing the stories of Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. The expansion launches in North America on October 15 at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET, with other regions crossing into October 16 depending on time zone.

That makes Patch 2.02.00 less of a feature update and more of a cleanup pass before the expansion. The significance is the timing: rather than freezing the base game while preparing paid content, Pearl Abyss is still addressing progression bugs, crashes, controls and presentation issues in the weeks leading into Charting the Unknown.
